2008 - The Year of the _ _ _ _ !

The end of 2008 is swiftly approaching and today we 'celebrated' our FOURTH event which has prompted Mr. Adventure and me to name 2008. Let me explain:

Event #One:

On our way this summer to our fabulous camping getaway

all was well, we were closing in on our destination, when we

heard this loud bang -

We immediately pulled over to discover that our 4 year old camper

had a blown tire. Thankfully after a good samaritan's assistance and

approx. $100 later....we replaced the tire and were able to enjoy

our camping trip.

Event #Two:

Once again as we were traveling to another camping location,

Mr. Adventure and I were noticing how much the "wind' was

affecting the way our truck was handling. Seriously, we didn't

HEAR the wind, but the truck kept swaying. So, Mrs. Adventure

suggested that we might want to pull over and investigate. Sure

enough, it wasn't the wind.....it was a FLAT tire on the back of our

completely over-loaded, camper-hauling pick up truck. We were able

to change the tire, with the special supplies we had purchased at the

demise of the camper tire on the previous trip, and $400 we now have

four new truck tires.

Event #Three:

As I have been mentioning in my blogs....this is the winter to beat all

winters....it just keeps snowing, even when the weatherman doesn't

predict it! So Mr. Adventure has been plowing, plowing and then

plowing our driveway. And just to make it more fun, our 60 year

old farm tractor blew a tire. So, once again, we had to spend $$$$$

and replace / repair the tire. I am so glad that Mr. Adventure's nickname

is Mr. Handyman! :0)

Event #Four:

Today....as we were sailing along on wonderfully BARE roads in my

new car with BRAND new snow tires - Four Brand new tires.....two

of which are less than 24 hours old....I happened upon a large road

sign which had blown down in my lane on Route 81. (while travelling

at 65 miles per hour) and yes, I hit the road sign. And yes, I blew

out one of my brand new tires. And now there is a large whole in

my brand new tire. And to make it even more dramatic, we did

NOT make it to our destination - Our granddaughters 4th birthday

party. We are planning to try again tomorrow, but don't even know

if there will be a birthday celebration.....so we'll see what tomorrow

brings.

But to get to my point....in the Adventure Household we have

deemed 2008, you guessed it:

The Year Of the Tire !
